The Syndicate Red 2016
A syndicate is a collaboration of individuals working toward a shared interest. The age-old practice of blending wines is done with a similar purpose, hence the name we’ve chosen for our flagship red wine. In The Syndicate, the individual varietals are working together to elevate the depth and complexity of the finished wine.
For the 2016 vintage, we’re stepping into the Old World through the New World’s front door. This full-bodied blend is classically structured, but brimming with vibrant Okanagan fruit. An elegant combination of Merlot (50%), Cabernet Franc (37%) and Petit Verdot (13%).
This wine was grown in sun-drenched vineyards in Osoyoos and Oliver, and harvested between October 7th and 26th. Each varietal was fermented separately in small lots and aged for 21 months in French oak barrels, of which 40% were new.
An elegant, well-balanced wine with aromas and flavours of cassis, black cherry, dark chocolate and tobacco. Firm and rich in texture and approachable now, this wine will blossom with another 5 years in the bottle.
As food and wine always go hand-in-hand at our house, The Syndicate is always destined to be a food wine. We achieved a balanced wine with enough acidity and tannins to enjoy with a variety of foods, especially with grilled or roasted red meats.
